Objective
To prepare specialist physicians in Anesthesiology with an academic background that includes knowledge of basic and clinical sciences, capable of performing pre-surgical assessments, as well as conducting intraoperative and post-anesthetic procedures to provide comprehensive care to patients undergoing medical and surgical procedures; including pain management, skillfully utilizing assessment tools and cutting-edge technology to develop a professional practice with the highest standards of patient care and safety, coordinating with the multidisciplinary health team.
Additionally, the Anesthesiology specialist will operate within a framework of ethics and humanism, committed to respecting the human rights of patients and the environment, and utilizing scientific research as a routine tool in their daily practice, committed to the continuous updating of their discipline.

Upon completion of your studies in Anesthesiology, you will have developed the following knowledge:
- Demonstrate a deep understanding of the pathophysiological mechanisms of conditions requiring surgical intervention, as well as the patient's medical history and risk factors for surgical patients.
- Have extensive knowledge of diagnostic-therapeutic procedures to plan preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative anesthetic management, including their indications, utility, risks, and complications.
- Recall and correlate basic science knowledge from anatomy, pharmacology, and physiology with pathological states requiring surgical interventions to establish anesthetic management.
- Perform interventions in airway management using necessary maneuvers and devices to ensure adequate and safe ventilation/oxygenation for the patient.
- Master the physiological response of patients to pain to improve patient quality and avoid negative consequences.
- Apply current national and international regulations related to the discipline and the provision of quality medical care with an emphasis on patient safety.
- Understand theoretical aspects of the teaching-learning process applied to patient and multidisciplinary healthcare team training related to topics in their discipline.
- Apply knowledge of information and communication technologies to their daily practice.
Upon completion of your studies in Anesthesiology, you will have developed the following skills:
- Apply with skill and dexterity the most updated procedures and technical resources in Anesthesiology for the comprehensive treatment of patients requiring analgesia, sedation, and/or anesthesia.
- Develop proficiency in Anesthesiology procedures, including maneuvers and techniques for patient care in pre, trans, and post-anesthetic stages.
- Timely and orderly integrate the patient's different medical issues to establish appropriate diagnoses and offer an action plan for intervention.
- Recognize and identify complications of anesthetic or surgical procedures, as well as their timely treatment.
- Treat the patient as a biopsychosocial entity in the contexts of their competence.
- Provide ongoing communication resulting in effective information exchange and proper relationships with patients, their families, and the healthcare team.
- Plan a study and treatment program, including emergency cases and based on scientific criteria, with principles of quality service, to contribute to sustainable human development with equity and justice.
