Objective

To train competent professionals in resolving problems in critically ill pediatric patients, within a spirit of humanism and reflection, leading to patient care within a quality environment that promotes research and continuous medical education in the framework of pediatric intensive care in Mexico and abroad. Additionally, to use the scientific method as a habitual instrument of their professional development and as a participatory instrument in advanced research in their area of specialization. Establishing the physician-patient relationship, physician-family, physician-colleague, and physician-team relationship with quality and human warmth in the practice of their profession.

Upon completion of your studies in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, you will have developed the following knowledge:

Have a scientifically grounded understanding of airway problems, intubation, central nervous system, infections, metabolism, and nutrition in the Specialty of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine.
Knowledge of the natural history principles of disease in monitoring problems and neurological, renal, trauma, and intoxication support in critically ill pediatric patients.
Competent in comprehensive monitoring of critically ill pediatric patients and identifying mechanisms and factors involved in cardio-respiratory presentation in childhood stages.
Competent in preventive, diagnostic, therapeutic, and rehabilitation medical care for critically ill pediatric diseases.
Profound knowledge of the technical, medical, and administrative procedures necessary for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases in critically ill pediatric patients.
Profound knowledge to follow up on patients with acquired sequelae, changes in infection response, and hematological system functions due to child development.
Recognize the clinical problems of critically ill pediatric patients requiring attention from another specialty (e.g., surgical) and collaborate with Interconsultants.

Upon completion of your studies in Pediatric Critical Care Medicine, you will have developed the following skills:

Demonstrate vigilance and efficient care for critically ill pediatric patients and define types and routes of feeding through reviewing functional changes in the endocrine, digestive, kidney, urinary tract systems, etc.
Provide specialized comprehensive medical care to patients with critical pediatric diseases related to circulation, renal, hematological, and extubating techniques.
Select, analyze, and evaluate medical literature related to diseases of critically ill pediatric patients, integrating relevant evidence into the clinical case.
Reflectively use available preventive, diagnostic, treatment, and rehabilitation resources in critically ill pediatric patients.
Productively collaborate in interdisciplinary workgroups in the field of pediatric critical care medicine.
Develop competencies for continuous education and professional development.
Apply the scientific method in generating new knowledge in pediatric critical care medicine.
